This December sees the start of The Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge. It’s hard to believe it, but more people have currently been in to space than rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, and this year Kingsland Polymers Limited is proud to be supporting a team of 4 ex-servicemen known as The Atlantic Mavericks. The team of Roy Dixon, Ian Davies, Richard ‘Tiny’ Baker and Ian Duncan took up the challenge after Ian Davies managed to overcome multiple myeloma – a form of bone marrow cancer, and so are putting all their efforts in to raising money for ‘Myeloma UK’, as well as charities ‘The Royal British Legion’ and ‘353’.

The epic row, will take around 45 days to complete from La Gomera to Antigua, and covers some 3000 nautical miles through some extremely challenging conditions.

Sponsors and friends met up at Salop Leisure in Shrewsbury on 19th September to meet the crew and view the boat, and to witness the special blessing given to the vessel to provide the crew with a safe passage across the Atlantic.

We wish them every success, and if you too would like to support them in any way you can either through sponsorship or by donating, then please go to their website www.atlanticmavericks.com where you can also find out more about the team and the charities they are supporting.
